The Portsmouth Counselling service is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). The counselling we offer is one to one only, at a set time and day every week. All counsellors work within professional ethical guidelines and use a counselling approach which meets the clients' needs best. This incorporates CBT work as well as other approaches. We provide a drug and alcohol counselling programme which is for 12 free sessions focussing on drug and/or alcohol related issues. This is for Portsmouth Residents only (PO1 – PO6). We also have received limited funding for counselling for clients who have family members with substance misuse issues. This is for an assessment and 6 counselling sessions. There is also free counselling available to students through the University of Portsmouth. We also provide a General counselling service for issues such as relationships, depression, anxiety, bereavement, anger etc. It is a paid for service. We are able to reduce our fees, due to our funding, for Portsmouth residents (PO1-PO6). The fees are then based on your annual household income. The fees for an Assessment range between £10 to £40 and counselling sessions range from £6.00 to £35.00 depending on income (and where you live). If you are a Portsmouth resident and you are on benefits/low income, the assessment fee would be £10 and the counselling fee would be a minimum of £6 per session (per week) but this would be confirmed at the assessment. Please contact us for more information or to book an assessment.
